Subject: [INFOLIT] K-20 Speaker Request
Greetings K-20 Discussion List Participants:
I'm the president of the Louisiana chapter for ACRL, and I am interested in connecting the K-12 librarians with the academic librarian community. I would like for us all to discuss, in an energetic and free-wheeling fashion, ways of providing a K-20 information literacy initiative for Louisiana. I am currently working with the president of the Louisiana Association of School Librarians on planning an event focusing on this topic for the March 2009 conference of the Louisiana Library Association.
My question to all and sundry: Could you please pass along the names of any recommended speakers? I am looking for someone who understands both populations of librarians and their users (K-12 and higher education). This person would have experience in developing a K-20 initiative on a state-wide level.
The provisional plan is to have the speaker present for about an hour, and then lead discussions during an informal breakout session which will be catered in proper Louisiana style. J
If anyone comes to mind please email me off-list.
Thank you for your time and commitment,
Michael Matthews
